New Menu at Chocksett Inn. The Chocksett Inn, located right off of Route 12 in Sterling, has a new menu. The dining room at the inn is open from 5 – 9pm Mon-Sat and features entrees priced from $17-$29.
Wine at the Castle. The Castle Restaurant in Leicester continues its weekly wine tastings. The schedule for March includes a game dinner on Sunday Mmarch 2, Wines of Southern France on March 9, and The Wines of Victor Hugo on March 19. Call The Castle at 508-892-9090 for details.
Speaking of wine dinners. Rovezzi’s Ristorante in Worcester will be hosting wine dinners on April 7 & May 19. The cost is $65 per person. Contact the restaurant at 508-753-4511 for reservations.
Leicester has a new restaurant. Natalia’s Nook recently opened at 850 Main Street in Leicester. The family dining eatery offers everything from chicken by the piece to pasta, sandwiches and burgers.
Shamrock still looking. The Shamrock Restaurant in Holden is still looking for new owners. According to Chris George of Worcester’s George & Co, “The restaurant closed a while ago and we are actively looking for someone to take over the space.”
Shrewsbury Street gets new bakery. Alina Eisenhauer, former owner of the Sturbridge Baking Co., closed her doors January 1, with the idea to open in Worcester. It appears that Eisenhauer has found a spot next to Funky Murphy’s on Worcester’s Shrewsbury Street. Look for a spring opening.
Wine Expo news. David & Gina Papazian, owners of the DZian Gallery at 65 Water Street in Worcester, recently expanded their horizons. They exhibited the paintings of Thomas Arvid at the Boston Wine Expo last month. The artist was on hand painting live in their booth, and from reports they did quite well. Arvid is known for his “winescapes”. His originals are priced in the $35-$100,000 range.
All that Jazz. Oxford’s Casual Dining on Route 12 in Oxford has added jazz to its already exciting menu. Jazz is now performed on Thursday evenings from 6 -9 pm. The restaurant is owned by Paul Dadah and serves up some of the best food in the area. Their desserts, which are homemade, are to die for.
Still Lucky. Lucky’s Café, located in the basement of 102 Grove Street in Worcester, is once again serving dinner on Friday and Saturdays from 5 – 9 pm. The restaurant, which has been in business for over 10 years, has toyed with the idea of dinners with much success in the past and we were disappointed when they stopped. Lucky’s is open during the week for breakfast and lunch and serves brunch on Sundays. BTW, it is BYOB.
Charley’s Diner makes it. First they were forced to move form their Plantation Street location. Then they were forced to move from Worcester to Spencer. But Charley’s Diner late of Worcester was recently featured on the Food Network’s ”Diners Drive-Ins & Dives.” Congrats to Charley & Steve Turner for hanging in there.
Sushi in Sturbridge. Kaizen is the name of Sturbridge’s new sushi restaurant that opened in the middle of December. The sushi bar is located at 279 Main Street, the former home of Bin 279. The restaurant, owned by friends Ben Vo and Huc Thang, is open seven days a week for lunch and dinner. Both owners formerly worked at Willy’s in Shrewsbury and Haiku in Worcester. 508 347-1088
