Planning a wedding can be one of the most exciting times of our lives. But with all the invitations, caterers, and photographers, and between having to rent the space, balance the checkbook, and keep everyone happy, it can also be one of the most stressful times.

In between all the planning and preparation it’s important to remember that you still need to take time out to take care for yourself. This is especially true as it gets closer to the wedding. Make sure you treat your inner and outer self so on your big day you’ll look and feel great and really be able to focus on enjoying yourself.

Months before your big day is a great time to think about the right exercise program. For those of you looking to lose a few pounds and shape up, a new strength and cardio routine might be just what you are looking for. Try hiring a personal trainer to help you map out the best route. Avoid over-exercising and crash-dieting because you won’t be able to keep the result up over the long term. With a good diet and exercise plan and a little consistency, you’ll be looking your best in no time.

Another options for shaping up include yoga, which will connect the mind and the body, or a variety of other classes, DVDs, or even just walking. The key is to make it enjoyable and keep at it. Try not to focus so much on the outcome, but rather focus on how grounded and calm you’ll feel when you’re doing something good for yourself.

A good facial cleansing regimen will also be important long before your big day. Try getting a facial treatment or speaking with a dermatologist if your skin isn’t as clear as you would like. If you are happy with your skin make sure to keep up whatever routine has given you those results, no matter how tired you get!

As your special day gets closer, now is the time to really pamper yourself and focus on your outside. If you’re planning on doing any kind of tanning, be sure to start a few weeks in advance so you get just the right color and don’t end up too dark ~ or, horrors, too orange. For best results, explain exactly what you are looking for when you go to the salon and they should be able to point you in the right direction.

For hair and make-up, you will again want to consult the right people. To avoid any last minute crisis, never get your hair colored or cut right before the event. If you’re planning on having a particular style or up-do, try it out ahead of time to make sure it’s exactly what you want. You should also test out your make-up colors beforehand, just to make sure everything is perfect.

Eyebrows are another important part of your preparation that should be done at least a couple days ahead of time. To ensure you get the best results, find the right eyebrow stylist by getting a recommendation from someone you trust. Bring a picture to let the stylist know what you are looking for, and get them done a couple times before the wedding just to make sure you like what you’re getting.

Many spas in the area offer bridal packages that include massages, facials, body masks, manicures, and pedicures. This might be the perfect way for you ~ or even you and your bridesmaid or even your mom ~ to spend the day leading up to the wedding. A nice day of beauty and relaxation might be just what you need to de-stress, look great, and really make the most of your big day.
