It’s ALL in the Jeans
By Nicole Steina
We all know that jeans are THE staple of any wardrobe ~ they’re the goto item of clothing for almost every occasion, they’re an old friend, a sexy statement, a no-brainer that you know will make you look good…Well, that will make you look good IF you know how to choose the right jean ~ color, fit, length ~ for your body. We’ve already established that The Mom Jean is a heinous crime ~ stay away from that fashion faux pas like it’s the Plague. But in addition to that little bit of advice, here are a few more tips to keep in mind when you’re choosing your jeans.
First and foremost, remember that not all of us are built like a stick-thin supermodel. And thank goodness for that, ‘cause what good is a sexy pair of jeans if you don’t have a booty to show off!
* Forget the price or the designer name! Remember this mantra: Fit First, Label Last
* When trying on a pair of jeans…make sure you buy a pair that fits you snuggly, because they are going to s-t-r-e-t-c-h.
* Remember that a dark denim is very slimming, so look for styles that offer a darker wash ~ and you’re in luck, because that it very “in” this season. A darker wash is also a little dressier than a light wash, so it can take you from day into night.
* Have a pair of skinny jeans (all the rage this season) but want to dress them up a little? Try pairing them with a cute little babydoll dress or a hot little tailored blazer with a pair of 3 inch stilettos. Smokin’!
* If you have a fave pair of jeans that have a little bit wider leg (not flare, but more bootcut), don’t worry, you can make those work. Just roll them up into a big bulky cuff and wearing them either with some great heels or a sexy pair of boots.
* And now we head into possibly dangerous territory: The low rise, the ultra-low rise, and the oh-my-god-the-zipper-on-these-is-only-two-inches-long rise. Repeat after me: My g-string should NOT show above the top of my jeans, My g-string should NOT show above the top of my jeans. That’s right, if you can feel a breeze down the back of your caboose, your jeans are too low. I don’t care that Paris Hilton rocked that look two years ago. She’s a freak and besides, fashion has moved on. Don’t be left…behind.
Petite Ladies
Just because you are vertically challenged doesn’t mean you can’t look hot in a nice pair of jeans. You have a lot of choice in terms of cut and leg shape ~ the only two styles you should definitely NOT include in your wardrobe are flare legs and capris. They’ll both shorten you even further. Also stay away from lots of glitter and huge back pocket designs. Uninterrupted lines are always more flattering. Also, the darker the shade of your jeans, the easier it is to pair them with a nice dark heel. That combination will always elongate your legs and give you the illusion of extra height.
Plus Sized Frame
Just say stretch denim! It’s your best friend. Heck, it’s everyone’s best friend. It’s flattering on any body type and stands up really well to washing. Again, try a darker denim for a slimming look that goes with just about anything from a blazer to a cute blouse. Stray away from taper legs and big cumbersome front pockets ~ they won’t do your shape any justice. Instead, opt for a straight boot cut.
Ms. Pear Shape
Don’t fret, my little pear…You can downplay your hips and thighs with a trouser cut or a bootcut. If you’re concerned with your belly, try a higher rise jean to hide the tummy and give the illusion of a flat stomach. Find a style that has a bigger back pocket and that will take the emphasis off the booty. A peasant blouse that just skims the body looks great atop a tailored jean ~ finish off the look with a pair of ballerina flats and enjoy!
Boyish body
There are lots of us out there who wish we were a little curvier and have a hard time finding jeans that flatter our more boyish shapes. I suggest a slim boot cut with a low rise to create the illusion of curves. Stay away from baggy and loose fitting jean styles as they will make you look like the great disappearing woman and give you absolutely no shape at all.
Enhance the Pants, Plump the Rump
By Steph Moore
Ladies, confess. I know there are some of you out there who just aren’t happy with your posterior. You fear that the junk in your trunk is insufficient, that it’s bootylacking, not bootylicious. Well, don’t even think of going the Extreme Makeover method and getting butt implants. Instead, head to the Bubbles BodyWear website at www.lovemybubbles.com/shopBB.shtml and check out their Bubbles Butt Boosters that can be worn under clothing. Really. Karen Jones, creator and owner of Bubbles, says she created the line because she saw a market for women who wanted an easy, safe way to enhance their backsides. “When you put on a pair of jeans, the first thing you do is turn around and look at your butt. I thought about what a push-up bra did and wondered what that would do for the butt,” she says. The answer? Butt Boosters.
You can also try a Brazilian Padded Panty-Boom. These ass-augmenters have the distinct honor of being the only padded panties that are actually molded from real Brazilian butts. So you know that these little helpers were fashioned after some of the most gorgeous bottoms in the world. Check ‘em out at www.galapagosboutique.com/BOOM-Padded-Butt-Shaping-Panty-p/squ-boom.htm.
Other options? Newport News makes a pair of padded stretch jeans with removable push-up pads. They’re $45 on Newport-News.com. And Flexees has a pair of rear-lifting control briefs, too. You can buy them on FreshPair.com for $23.50.
And guys, don’t think that this particular fashion accessory is for ladies only. If you’d like to fill out your jeans just a little better, head over to www.buttforyou.com/ and check out your padding options.
International Male is there for you, too, with its line of “Problem Solvers.” They have at least three different butt enhancing briefs for sale at www.internationalmale.com/dept.asp?dept%5Fid=10640.
The best padded panties in the world are made by Sexy Backups ltd in Bangkok. They are ten times better than the ones you mentioned. I now have 4 Sexy Backups low rise padded panties and they look 100% natural under all my clothes. They also fit perfectly under my low rise jeans! sexybackups.com
How do I measure myself for the perfect fit of jeans? How is inseam measured?
Best practice for trying on jeans is to wear a butt enhancer when you try them on so you truly know how you’ll look in your jeans. Depending on your shape, jeans with a back pocket will give you a perky butt. Jeans with out them just make your back side look flatter than it actually is. BTW great site!
It’s strange that for people with big muscular butts it is very hard to find jeans. It seems most of them are made for people who don’t exercise.
I’ve tried Butt For You women’s padded underwear.. I bought them for kayaking (they protect my buns) but they look so good I wear them under my jeans. I highly recommend them…and they’re made in Canada:)
