Castellana’s opens. The much anticipated opening of Castellana’s on Harding Street in Worcester’s Canal District happened in the middle of May. Under the leadership of Chef Stephen Chase, this eatery promises to be one of the top destinations for Worcester area diners. Chase has started something novel in this area ~ a Chef’s Table. On Monday nights you can sit in the kitchen and enjoy a six course meal cooked range side. In addition to the food, Castellana’s features an extensive and interesting wine list.
Where is Monty’s Garden going? Monty’s Garden, a fixture in Leominster for the past half century, is about to move out of its Route 12 location. No word yet as to where they are going, but we’ll keep you posted.
Chain pain. The efforts to open a Long John Silver’s & Taco Bell in the Webster Square area are running into opposition from neighbors. Leading the fight is the Goddard Homestead, the nursing home that abuts the proposed location, on Main Street adjacent to the Webster Square Shopping Plaza.
Primo plates at Union Station. Union Station the Restaurant has recently introduced a new concept for part of the week. Restauranteur Joe Petrou, former owner of Primo’s, an Italian restaurant on Shrewsbury Street, has added a less expensive alternative for dining out in high-end surroundings. He is offering “Primo Plates,” dishes that he once offered at Primo’s. This is family-friendly fare that will be served Tuesday through Friday. You can still order from the restaurant’s fine dining menu on those days, and Saturdays will be exclusively fine dining in the historic setting of Union Station.
Pajama Party. Block 5 recently began offering Pajama Party Sunday Brunch at their establishment on Worcester’s Green St. From what we have heard, the party is a smash. Don’t worry, the staff wears pajamas, not the guests. But I guess if you wake up late you can head over in your sleepwear…but so far no one has shown up au natural.
Opening soon. Pizzaria Uno will be opening its first Worcester location in the Hilton Garden Hotel next to the DCU Center. The chain, which specializes in Chicago-style deep dish pizza, is expected to open in September.
