Dance2Swing continues to present swing dances with live music (and the occasional DJ) every Sunday night at the Leominster Lodge of Elks, 134 North Main Street, Leominster. Things kick off at 6 p.m. with beginner dance lessons; the band starts up around 7 p.m. May’s schedule includes the Compaq Big Band (May 7), Sax Gordon and the Little Town Rockers (May 14), and Velvet Elvis (May 28). Host AlanHep2the Jive will spin “post-swing” dance sounds on May 21. There’s also a monthly Dance2Swing dance concert in Worcester at the First Unitarian Church; this month’s event takes place on May 20. Along with continuing to host Bill McCarthy’s long-running open mic every Wednesday night, the Lazy Dog, 31 Main Street, Marlborough, invites you to come down for a few drinks and dance to sounds by DJ Mark Johnson every Thursday night at 8 p.m. Don’t worry about eating before you get there – the room offers dinner specials and salads.

The Franks have settled into the regular Wednesday night slot at the Tammany Club, 43 Pleasant Street, Worcester. Their funk rock ‘n’ reggae rhythms earned them a second round in the Wormtown Battle of the Bands. Check them out at thefranksmusic.com. And more good news, Tammany’s Open Mic host Dusty Cobb and his full-time band DC5 have also settled into opening for The Franks every week, giving everyone a little mid-week taste of a weekend kind of vibe.
