Tomasso Trattoria and Enoteca opens in Southborough

December 2004Celebrate the spirit of the Italian tableTom and Mary Prince recently opened Tomasso Trattoria and Enoteca in a newly constructed building on Route 9 in Southborough. The informal Italian restaurant and wine bar is located on the site of the former White’s Corner Restaurant, which closed a few years ago after nearly a 50 year run. Executive chef Antonio Bettencourt’s menu features fresh, simple seasonal Italian dishes from various regions in the country.

It’s a small world after all — Former Anthony’s chef John Piccolo has joined forces with Nick Fiorillo and Santo Arcuri to purchase Primo’s on Shrewsbury Street, Worcester from Joe Petrou, owner of Union Station the Restaurant. The three men plan to open a new Italian restaurant at the site, called Piccolo Mondo. No word on an opening date.

Blast from the past — Rumors are flying that the well-known Victorian Restaurant at Linwood Avenue in Whitinsville may reopen. Once one of the top dining rooms in Central Massachusetts, the famous Victorian closed in 1993. The former Civil War estate was converted into a private residence in 1997. Owner Andy Knott is rumored to be searching for a chef with the intention of reopening the restaurant for high-end functions, as well as rejuvenating the former bed and breakfast.

Where the deer and antelope play — A LongHorn Steakhouse franchise just opened in the Shoppes at Blackstone Valley on Route 146 in Millbury.
