ArtsWorcester is presenting photographer James Hunt’s exhibition, Under the Highway: Blackstone River Landscapes. This exhibit is a narrative series that highlights the human impact on the three-mile section of the Blackstone River in Worcester and Millbury that is now a bikeway. Industrial and urban components coupled with the natural beauty of the river struck Hunt as an eerie scene that needed to be captured.

James Hunt has been photographing nature and the environment for more than 15 years. He also studied photography at various institutions, including Boston University, Maine Media College, the Griffin Museum of Photography and the International Center for Photography. He also holds a BA from MIT, MSW from Simmons Colleg, and a DBA from Boston University. Hunt’s work has been exhibited throughout New England.

Hunt was inspired by the juxtaposition of nature and man-made infrastructure. To hear more about the series and the artist’s inspiration, attend the opening of the exhibit on Wednesday, June 27, from 6-8 p.m. at the Franklin Square Salon Gallery, Hanover Theatre, 2 Southbridge St., Worcester. At 6:15 p.m., Hunt will speak about his photographs, and there will be a free public reception featuring music from Carlos Odria.
