I’m nominating Pauli Fuller for best r&b, hip hop, solo, album. So many categories it’s not even funny. The man just put 90 hours a week for a month and a half in to this album with the producer Kwik Keys, and it definitely shows, I’m impressed. Probly some of the best lyrics on a hip hop / r&b album i’ve ever heard. Every song has topic, no nonsense tracks. There is even acoustic songs that resemble a soulful type everlast type music. DJ Big Phyll is Worcester’s best club DJ! He plays everything! House, hip hop, techno, rock, freestyle, brazilian house, jazz, r&b, and more! He’s been rockin parties in NYC, and Japan for years. I think Chad Burdick should win, hands down, he is a tough act to follow, I love him….Saw him at Fall River Celebrates America and thought he was better than some of the groups, that were in mags.

I’m surprised by the lack of some nominees. No “Jediah”? No “Carmelita”. I wouldn’t probably know even some of these bands without her show. She’s the only Boston DJ that I know that plays/promotes Worcester shows every week on the air. Do Toucher and Rich even know how to get to Worcester? haha.
This whole award thing is rigged through people you know. I never heard of any of these artist they suck and your still local here are the real best in WORCESTER E.C.D, Cugie Fezan, K.B.K, Full Clip,
L da head, Str8 up, New Era, Tacoma Ent. The pioneers and who is not just local and i’m sure all my peoples including PAULLY know that. Hands down that . We won .

Mainly to Richard: I think it’s important to remember that this is a “People’s Choice” type of awards. This translates to “popularity contest” or who can get the most people to go to a website for them. Therefore you pretty much have to promote like crazy to get yourself in there. It’s important to separate this set of awards from the Turtle Boys, where nominations come from club owners etc….

Totally agree with this statement!!!!
I am guilty of trying to “stuff” the ballot box myself (and succeeded, I won a WMA Award in 06 and at the time I don’t think I really deserved it) but let’s just say my relationship with Pulse Magazine isn’t the greatest, however, I still am happy for those folks busting their humps in Fitchburg/Gardner/Leominster who nobody really has heard of here in Wormtowm. It’s a testatment to how Pulse has a slew of advertisers in those areas and I think in way is catering to that market. On the other hand I do feel a few bands here were slighted, but hey. You can’t win a Grammay every year (yeah, that’s sarcasm).
That being said I do find it kind of funny how a majority of these bands doesn’t even gig out regularily.

Mainly to Richard: I think it’s important to remember that this is a “People’s Choice” type of awards. This translates to “popularity contest” or who can get the most people to go to a website for them. Therefore you pretty much have to promote like crazy to get yourself in there. It’s important to separate this set of awards from the Turtle Boys, where nominations come from club owners etc….

Totally agree with this statement!!!!
I am guilty of trying to “stuff” the ballot box myself (and succeeded, I won a WMA Award in 06 and at the time I don’t think I really deserved it) but let’s just say my relationship with Pulse Magazine isn’t the greatest, however, I still am happy for those folks busting their humps in Fitchburg/Gardner/Leominster who nobody really has heard of here in Wormtowm. It’s a testatment to how Pulse has a slew of advertisers in those areas and I think in way is catering to that market. On the other hand I do feel a few bands here were slighted, but hey. You can’t win a Grammay every year (yeah, that’s sarcasm).
That being said I do find it kind of funny how a majority of these bands doesn’t even gig out regularily.

I’m glad to see people are voting, well I was at first but it seems to me like the same few people are wirting over and over again just using a different name. Plus it seems to be becoming more of a who can get there friends to write on this board thing and front on some old I like a group or a persom or even a place. After reading at least 30 of these I’m not sure if the Pulse is a reliable source of information when it comes to where to go or who is the best act to see. I do like some of the places and I do like some of the artists, but after seeing the way this is going I am in the same place I was before I started reading. Thanks
